A Meme That Explains the Modern GOP

Just another unsettling reminder of how Republicans abandoned their principles.

I saw the above meme today, and it wonderfully explains the intellectual bankruptcy of the modern Republican Party.

Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who has not left the Republican Party, is treated here as the pariah because she stood up for Constitutional principles in opposing the abuse of power of the Trump Administration’s attempted overturning of the 2020 Presidential Election.

Former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, formerly a Democrat until this week, is hailed here as a hero because she does Russia’s bidding opposes supporting our allies in Ukraine and is reinventing herself as a conservative icon. Never mind her support for terrorist states like Syria.

Republicans have traditionally opposed state power and embraced conservative principles. So let’s compare and contrast Liz Cheney and Tulsi Gabbard.

You will notice that in every one of these rankings, Liz Cheney rates as exponentially more conservative than Tulsi Gabbard. But since the Republican Party has warped the definition of conservative to mean “loyal to Trump” and nothing more, they won’t let these facts get in the way of their warped reality.
