American Eats: Florida. 3.14 Pi Pizza
Turns out, there’s gonna be quite a few pizza joints on this list….
When we travel to Florida, there are two general places that we visit: St. Augustine on the Atlantic Coast or Sarasota on the Gulf Coast. There are plenty of great places in both areas, including fantastic beach seafood joint Mango Mango’s.
Most Marylanders, in particular, have heard of Sarasota, Florida. The Orioles have held spring training at Sarasota’s Ed Smith Stadium since 2010, and they are heavily invested in the Sarasota community and its surrounding environs.
I’ve made numerous trips to Sarasota. Not just for spring training, however. Siesta Key is the famous beach town on an island just off of Sarasota. Known for having one of the best beaches in America, it’s a hopping place during the winter months when everybody (like me) escapes the cold environs of the north. It’s also got a pretty vibrant and sophisticated food scene in “downtown” Siesta Key.
Far and around the best place on the island is 3.14 Pi Pizza.
Is it a little hard to find a parking place? Absolutely. But it’s a place that serves great pizza and has a fantastic craft beer selection. All with a beachy theme and a beach vibe. It takes a little bit of the pizza beer bar from The Moose’s Tooth and combines it with a little bit of the beach pizza joint vibe from Grotto Pizza.
My recommended list of pizzas at 3.14 Pi Includes the Barbecue Chicken, Beach Bum, and Hawaiian.
If you are looking for a place where parents and adults alike can be satisfied while visiting the beach, 3.14 Pi Pizza is the place to do it in Siesta Key…
