Why are you running for office? *
I cannot stand to watch the disfunction in DC without trying to do something about it. I also believe that elected officials should put policy over politics and I am not seeing that currently and want to change it.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
I do not see myself following in the footsteps of any current politicians or those of the last few decades.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
It is not a true political or policy book but Freakenomics because it made me think about things from a different perspective and to follow the data and not emotions on issues.
What will be your top priority if elected? *
Term Limits for both Representatives and Senators
What are the three biggest issues facing your district? *
Economic development, immigration because it effects everyone whether they realize it or not, affordable housing
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
Transportation, affordable housing, cost of living
What are the three biggest issues facing our country? *
Immigration, Federal budget/deficit, Healthcare
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
Pro-Choice
What is your position on taxes, spending, and the federal deficit? *
We need a balanced budget, reduction of the current deficit
What is your position on gun rights? *
I support an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, limitations on magazine size and closing the loopholes for private sales and gun shows.
What is your position on the federal legalization of marijuana? *
Legalize and tax it like alcohol
What is your position on trade? *
Trade is an important port of our overall economy. We need to re-shore jobs in key industries, especially in high tech areas. We need to protect key industries that support large sections of American workers, but we also can not be so restrictive that it in turns punishes other industry when exporting to foreign nations. As with everything there needs to be a balance.
What is your position on foreign policy and military issues? *
Whether we like it or not we are the world's police force. However we must have international consensus and support when intervening in foreign affairs. We have the largest military in the world several times over but it doesn't mean that that should be our first response. It should be a backstop to diplomacy and used as a last resort.
What policies would you support to fight inflation? *
Fix the housing market by providing government back low interest loans, particularly to first time buyers. I would continue to allow the Federal Reserve to make what they believe is the best decisions for interest rates.
What is your position on Transgender issues?
I support Transgender rights and believe they should be treated as all other humans expect to be treated. These are medical issues that should be the decision of the person and their doctors not the government
