Why are you running for office? *
Congress has a 15% approval rating and they get re-elected 95% of the time. Individual Representatives and Senators have sold us out for money. The Senate is compromised and AMERICA needs real leadership. If you see something THIS IMPORTANT that needs fixing, and you have the capability to make fix it...You don't have much choice but to step up.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
Frederick Douglas; more a statesman than a politician, really. He didn't let humble beginnings prevent his rise. He didn't let his rise take away his humility. He never forgot his principles.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
Meditations-Marcus Aurelius. It strips away the excess and boils things down to a manageable level. It helps you put things, even large things that should overwhelm you, into perspective and provides insight into ethical and hopefully logical, decision making.
What will be your top priority if elected? *
My only agenda is Freedom. To an oppressed people, limited government is freedom. My priorities are Healthcare, Education, Economy, Environment, and Equity. The first bills I will propose are Term Limits for Congress, a new round of BRAC (Base Closures), an attempt at banking regulation (end the FED), and I'll take a look at the border and see if there's anything I can LEGALLY do.
What are the three biggest issues facing your district? *
Educational outcomes in PG can be subpar, especially considering the district spends $2.4B per year. I suspect it comes from graft and mismanagement of funds. PG County has some of the richest AA communities in the nation yet violence, poverty, and poor education are considered acceptable. Healthcare is the third issue I see. I look at the residents and we have an obesity epidemic, pre-existing conditions, poor nutrition.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
Housing (and rental affordability) in Maryland are on an unsustainable path Educational inequality...you can't have the best in the nation 15 miles from some of the worst and think there are no problems. Pollution in Maryland is a significant issue from farm runoff to wastewater plants not working as expected. Maryland has issues, but we have some of the most affluent counties in the nation. We are in a good spot FOR THE MOST PART.
What are the three biggest issues facing our country? *
Foreign policy--US Foreign policy makes us less safe. We are massive weapons dealers who seem to foment conflict in order to sell more weapons. Debt and Inflation-$35T national debt. $1.5T student loan debt, 3 bags of groceries cost $100. Inflation is a result of bad fiscal policy. Deficit spending is just stupid. Trickle down economics has never worked. Corrupt Politicians--Politicians who put party and power over solving the problems of the American Public. They can send $100B to foreign conflicts during the SuperBowl and no one is hung.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
Government should stay out of life issues. I am against government in medical decisions. That's between you and your doctor (who should not be forced to perform procedures they don't agree with). Voluntary, free exchange of goods and services with as little gov't interference as possible. You'll find that's a theme with me.
What is your position on taxes, spending, and the federal deficit? *
Taxation is Theft. I cannot eliminate taxes solo, but that IS my goal. Taxation is Theft means I UNDERSTAND that taxes is OUR money, not the government's. I will make them justify every dollar. I will make them pass balanced budgets. I will call out corruption at every turn. I'll bring back McCain's Pork Report. We spend too much. And someone should stop it.
What is your position on gun rights? *
I'm unreasonable about guns. I think I should be able to have a Patriot SAM battery in my backyard. Never trust a politician who tells you to disarm. Do. Not. Infringe.
What is your position on the federal legalization of marijuana? *
The Libertarian position on all drugs is they should be LEGAL. Cannabis (not marijuana) is an edible plant, an edible seed, a medicine, and an intoxicant. It should be legalized and studied. There are no victimless crimes.
What is your position on trade? *
I'm a laissez faire capitalist. Put as little government interference in the process. All exchanges are voluntary. Supply and demand will work out the price. Tariffs are taxes.
What is your position on foreign policy and military issues? *
The National Guard are strategic reserves (according to DoD). We have been using our strategic reserves to supplement on-going steady state operations since 2001. Said a different way, we've been doing too much for too long in too many places. We support Holocaust 2024. We're the world's largest arms dealer. We arm folks who go after religious extremists. When you add that to a porous border, it's just a matter of time before a significant terrorist incident hits our shores...again.
What policies would you support to fight inflation? *
End the Fed. Stop printing money to support perpetual wars. TERM LIMITS for Congress.
What is your position on Transgender issues?
I think Trans folks are just folks. They want the same things everyone else wants. I think we should leave them alone to pursue happy.
