Why are you running for office? *
I see the continued diminishment of our great nation and as a natural born American citizen, I refuse to let it happen any further. The people have just as much responsibility to our nation as our elected representatives. I am stepping up to do my part. The most basic reasons for my campaign is to unite the people in peace, rebuild our damaged communities, and otherwise lift out nation up out of the slump it is in. No other member of the government has done so. Now it's my turn. I'll show you why I am worth a president's salary and how our congress can be truly worth theirs.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
Every member of government is a role model however, it does not mean they are a good one.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
I don't read books about politics and policy. I keep up with what is going on with our government officials, the legislation that is passed, agreements, negotiations, etc.
What will be your top priority if elected? *
Securing the rights of the American people while bringing us together to restore damaged communities while stimulating our economy.
What are the three biggest issues facing your district? *
Homelessness, Inflation, and environmental quality are top local issues of my area.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
As far as I am aware, reproductive rights, gun violence, and education are Maryland's biggest issues.
What are the three biggest issues facing our country? *
Violence. Inflation. Mental Health. We are going to to take care of those and it will be a good process. I have some suggestions that I will post on social media and during my 2023 reboot of FDR's Fireside chats on Saturdays. Check my social media for time announcements.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
Congress shall make no law restricting access to necessary healthcare. What we can accomplish, for issues like abortion, is public education on the medical, logical, and responsible reasons why we should not choose such paths. Parents and Spiritual leaders should be teaching the spiritual reasons. I have never believed in prolonging suffering of another but, things like assisted suicide are deeply personal and should always be discussed with an individual's primary care physician and a psychologist before any action is taken. In extreme circumstances, I can see why a person would choose assisted suicide. I believe there are ways to reduce this as well though.
What is your position on taxes, spending, and the federal deficit? *
It is time to re-structure our tax system so that all pay their share. Our government needs to understand that when we take care of our country first, we will be better able to assist our allies. As of now, they don't do that. Once our system is adjusted for the new tax bracket system I offer, our deficit should diminish by around 70% although I believe 100% is achievable, our people will be able to afford to live, our economy will begin to level out, our government will have adequate spending money, and our businesses will still make a great profit. Everything gets paid for. Our economy will be stimulated in the much better direction of prosperity and success.
What is your position on gun rights? *
I believe in responsible gun laws and regulations that protect our society while maintaining the right to bear arms. We should look at the states with lower gun-related crimes and start adopting those laws across the nation. I have more on this on my website. suzzannaforpresident2024.com
What is your position on the federal legalization of marijuana? *
Marijuana should be reclassified and regulated along with certain other naturally occurring psychedelics like shrooms and peyote under a schedule with a similar name. It can still be regulated by the Liquor and Cannabis boards in each respective state and our tribal communities. All medical qualities (physical and psychological) should be studied and reported on so that we may understand how best to be responsible with them. I recommend full legalization with appropriate regulations, and the option for the government to purchase excess cannabis and others from industry providers to assist with medical research.
What is your position on trade? *
Trade is essential to any economic structure and success of a nation. It should be encouraged and maintained by all. I would like to improve upon our current trade agreements all around.
What is your position on foreign policy and military issues? *
Each situation is subjective. In my view, we have failed in our duties as members of NATO and the United Nations. When it comes to Ukraine-Russia, we should have stopped this when it began. When it comes to Israel-Hamas, they are both responsible for war crimes against the civilian populations. Iran is also to be held responsible as they are backing terrorist groups and other countries in the region to spread the violence and bring hate. I hope to bring them all before the UN Security counsel to be held responsible for their war crimes.
What policies would you support to fight inflation? *
I will support policies that re-structure/re-adjust our financial system to work for the people's economy, that force the Federal Reserve to stop raising interest rates while assisting the supply line down to the basic level, monthly/quarterly stimulus payments to individuals and families that make less than $50,000 per year as well as individuals in the agriculture industry who's product contributes to our national economy at a low cost, and all should happen at least until our economy balances out a bit better.
What is your position on Transgender issues?
I have friends and family in the LGBTQ+ community. As long as a person does not break the law, I say be yourself. I am one who is fond of individuality. We should include age appropriate education about the community in general social studies, just like we (at least used to) do with other communities.
