Why are you running for office? *
After 3 of my students were shot, I knew I had to make Baltimore safer.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
William Donald Schaefer he worked tirelessly to make Baltimore Better. I love his quote, "Do it Now!"
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
My favorite book is Poverty by America by Matthew Desmond because it examines ways to end poverty in America.
What will be your top priority in office? *
Compressive attack on crime with problem oriented policing. Instead of reacting when crime occurs lets address the causes, lack of recreation and opportunities for youth, 58% of students are not going to school on a regular basis, unhoused people, vacant homes, food insecurity, mental health and drug addiction. As a Baltimore City teacher, I will also focus on improving the education system in Baltimore city which goes hand and hand in preventing crime. First, we need to change to a centrally run budget. Instead of 164 principles trying to decide how to use the 1.7 billion dollar budget. Let's focus on the 58% of students who do not come to school.
What is the biggest issue facing your area? *
Crime it is up 300%
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
1. Youth violence and the lack of the ability for police to stop kids who are under 14 from committing crimes or questing after. Maryland Legislature needs to call an emergency hearing to change the law. 2. Job Opportunities 3. Mental Health
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
I was faced with the decision about having an abortion when I was told my daughter would be born deformed and mentality challenged and I should have an abortion. I appreciated that I could make my own decision on what to do. I decided not to have the abortion and my daughter was born healthy and is an athlete and have a PHD in Physics. Life is precious.
What is your position on taxes and spending? *
I do not like raising taxes and before spending increased there should be accounting review of how money in the past was spent.
What is your position on gun rights? *
We should have stronger laws on illegal guns.
What is your position on marijuana? *
We need clarification on current laws but I favor marijuana being legal.
What is your position on transgender issues?
I support transgender issues.
What is your position on land use, growth, and development? *
We need to have planned growth but before developing lets look at areas that can be revitalized.
What is your position on crime and public safety? *
We need a comprehensive approach addressing the causes of crime and providing solutions before crime occurs.
What is your position on county tax caps? *
I think caps should be in place because of the rise of house costs.
What is your position on education? *
Education is close to my heart as a 10 year Baltimore City Teacher. Improving our school system by running school centrally and making sure the 1.7 billion school budget gives students and teachers what they need.
