Chaffee Enters Pantheon of Bad Campaign Signs
US Senate Nominee Appropriates Image of Civil Rights Icon.
Chris Chaffee has entered the pantheon of worst campaign signs of all time.
Chaffee, a perennial candidate who won the Maryland Republican nomination for U.S. Senate based on name ID, being first on the ballot, and not being this goof, has always had an aggressive placement of signs in highway medians and along the sides of roads. The signs, often unsanctioned by the property owner, never have any unifying theme other than having Chaffee’s name on it.
This picture below was taken this morning at the corner of Ritchie Highway and Sycamore Drive in the line between Glen Burnie and Brooklyn Park.
Yes the sign really has Chaffee’s name above a photo of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on it with a quote saying “America Never Let The Dream Die.”
Chris Chaffee will never be confused with being Dr. King’s doppelgänger.
No word yet on whether Dr. King’s family approved the use of King’s likeness on Chaffee’s signs, though I seriously doubt they were asked.
