Last Frebruary, I wrote about Coca-Cola’s Coca-Cola Starlight. A year ago, it was Coca-Cola Dreamworld. Earlier this year it was Coca-Cola Move. And this week, we got to try Coca-Cola Ultimate.
The website describes this drink as:
Experience Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar Ultimate, the latest Coca-Cola® Creations sparkling beverage to matchmake with the shelves. Join as Coca-Cola® Creations and League of Legends come together to unlock Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar Ultimate’s +XP flavor. The limited-edition flavor, made in co-creation with Riot Games, takes the recognizable Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar taste and adds the electrifying taste of +XP.
I don’t recall getting ever having a taste in my mouth while playing a video game or earning anything in a video game, but I dunno. It basically sounds like it tastes like “vibes”.
On first taste, it tasted very similar to Coke Zero Move insofar as that I was getting a lot of pineapple vibes. But as I had a few more sips, I came to the conclusion that the taste I was getting was banana. Specifically, the artificial banana that you get in “banana” flavored candies.
Some agree. But Others disagree:
Coca-Cola Ultimate has a lightly tropical, almost floral scent, and its taste isn’t as chemical as some of the earlier flavor combos. In fact, it might be my favorite of them all so far….
…On the first sip, I sensed an almost cherry-cinnamon vibe. You know that spicy, unnameable flavor of Dr Pepper? Kinda like that. It still mostly reminds me of a fountain Coke with a random splash of any or all neighboring sodas.
I don’t see that assessment, certainly not the “Dr. Pepper” vibe. But that’s the thing about these “Coke Creations” flavors. The entire premise is to create a flavor that is not described which leaves it up to the customer to determine what it tastes like to them.
As far as Coke Creations go, it’s up there with Coke Move among the flavor profiles they have created. But I will still reach for a regular Coke Zero, thanks.
