Cox Impeachment Resolution Goes Down in Flames

Delegate Dan Cox’s clownish impeachment caper went down in flames as expected today.

Here’s the video of the hearing from the House Rules Committee, where House Simple Resolution 1, Cox’ attempted impeachment of Governor Larry Hogan, was unanimously given an unfavorable report.

Notably, the motion to give the resolution an unfavorable report came from House Minority Leader Jason Buckel.

A few things from the hearing were, frankly, hilarious:

The prior hearing was a resolution, also with Cox as the lead sponsor, of the HJ5, which is a Remembrance of Pearl Habor. Cox walks right into a trap set by Delegate C.T. Wilson where Cox agrees that uncomfortable history should be taught. With that statement, Cox sunk his own support of bans on Critical Race Theory.
Cox notes in his testimony on his Impeachment Resolution that “even the President of the United States” is not above the law. It is for me to understand how Cox can say that with a straight face given his obedience and loyalty to Donald Trump.
Only one person signed up to testify in favor of the resolution. That individual did not bother to show up.

Hogan spokesman Mike Ricci however did give us possibly the quote of the year: “I guess this means it’s back to the QAnon Ouija board.”

Now that that’s over, it’s hard to imagine what Dan Cox gained from this other than appeasing his biggest supporters while he made an ass out of himself to everyone else.

I will reiterate what I wrote about this last month:

Dan Cox is not a rational actor. He is not somebody who understands politics, government, or common sense. He has no campaign apparatus to speak of, no ability to raise money, and no way to get his message out beyond whatever appearances on fourth-rate networks like OAN will give him.
Even the Democrats are not going to front something as boneheaded as this. Even for a clown like Cox, this is clownish behavior.
