Cox says he would not have kicked Santos out of Congress, cites arrest of "peaceful" January 6th Rioters
#CoxAfterDark strikes again
In a late-night Facebook rant on Friday night, Congressional candidate Dan Cox said he would not have voted to expel New York Republican George Santos from Congress, citing the arrest of the “peaceful J6 Americans” who attempted to overthrow the government on January 6th, 2021.
Cox, who often shows sympathy to the traitors whose actions on January 6th, 2021 led to the occupation of the Capitol by Trump-inspired rioters, curiously concludes his statement by saying “We must do justice without hypocrisy” without any hint of irony that he wants to arrest and impeach members of the Biden Administration and let excuse the criminal behavior of January 6th.
If Cox was as smart as he thinks he was, he would have realized that George Santos was not being exposed to a criminal trial in Congress. He was being exposed to a political process that is controlled solely by the House of Representatives, which as a body remains the sole arbiter of who can serve in its chambers.
Santos of course remains under federal indictment for:
9 counts of wire fraud
3 counts of money laundering
2 counts of theft of public funds
2 counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives
1 count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States
1 count of making false statements to the FEC
2 counts of falsifying a record or document
2 counts of aggravated identity theft
1 count of monetary transactions over $10,000
Santos also entered into a plea bargain for committing check fraud in Brazil. But Cox has always frequently defended the criminal behavior of fellow Republicans.
As always, Cox demonstrates here that he is unfit for public office but will still likely win the Republican nomination due to the number of Republican voters who love him, no matter how much of a perpetual loser he is.
