Cox Selects Gordana Schifanelli as his running mate
Ticket consists of two attorneys
Delegate Dan Cox officially filed for Governor of Maryland today, selecting Gordana Schifanelli as his running mate.
Schifanelli is a fifty-year old attorney who lives in Stevensville in Queen Anne’s County. Though being a long-time voter, she has only twice voted in a Republican primary election; never in a primary for Governor.
Schifanelli practices in a firm with her husband, Marc. According her bio with the firm:
Gordana Schifanelli began her practice of law after a successful career as a registered Financial Advisor and portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch and Royal Bank of Canada. Gordana tackles legal matters involving complex business and property issues, including representation of financial industry customers and investors in FINRA arbitration matters involving broker fraud, broker negligence, and violations by investment firms of their fiduciary duties related to securities and investment. She also represents clients in family matters, providing comprehensive solutions in divorce, child custody, child support and spousal support cases. Her knowledge of wills, trusts, and estates is complemented by her experience in the financial industry. Gordana has a reputation as a tough and honest litigator. She is also an adjunct professor of Finance and Law and Economics at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Maryland's University of Baltimore School of Law, and her Master's of Science in Economics and Finance from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and holds her Bachelor's Degree in Economics.
The site also points out that Schifanelli speaks Serbo-Croatian, English, and has a working knowledge of Russian.
The Cox-Schifanelli ticket is the second to officially file in the Republican Primary, joining the ticket of Joe Werner and Minh Thanh Luong.
In 2020, Schifanelli sued Mary Ella Jourdak for defamation over what Schifanelli says were doctored social media posts. That case is still pending.
