Cox to Hold Fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago With Trump
If you have a spare $1,776 you too can hang with Dan Cox and Donald Trump
Dan Cox will be holding a high-dollar fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago next month.
A flyer obtained by The Duckpin says Cox will be holding the fundraiser on October 17th. The guest of honor, naturally, is embattled ex-President Donald Trump.
Tickets to the event cost $1,776 per person. A photo with Trump and Cox is “$25,000 raise per photo.” Not sure if that means that the donors are expected to raise $25,000 or how that works. As the flyer notes, donors cannot give more than $6,000 per election cycle.
Trump of course is under legal jeopardy on a multitude of fronts.
He faces potential criminal charges related to the misrepresentation of his assets in a related New York case;
Trump faces potential indictments under the Espionage Act, the improper handling of federal records, and obstruction of a federal investigation for his kerfuffle over the records found at the aforementioned Mar-a-Lago;
Trump could face indictment in Georgia related to his interference in that state’s Presidential election specifically;
Plus he could face whatever additional federal charges that could be filed related to his activities related to trying to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election results and his related activities to the events of January 6th.
Why Dan Cox, running for Governor in a state like Maryland, would want to further tie himself to him that close to the election is beyond me. But even further, why would Cox want to drag himself all the way to Florida three weeks before the election just for a fundraiser? Could Team Cox not convince Trump to get off the couch at come at least to Washington? Instead of campaigning that day, Cox has to spend the day traveling to and from Florida, and spending campaign dollars to get him there and back.
It will be interesting to see how much Cox raises from this event and whether the juice will really be worth the squeeze, though we won’t know until the October 28th campaign finance report is filed.
