Democratic Polling Firm Push Polls Maryland GOP Primary
Public Policy Polling Pushing Cox Endorsement in Poll
Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling is pushing Dan Cox’s endorsement by Donald Trump in a new push poll that hitting phones across Maryland.
I know because I was polled.
The poll was sent to me via text message reading:
Hi, this is Stephen w/ Public Policy Polling! Would you be able to give your opinions on some important current issues in Maryland? Please take our short survey here: https://www.research.net/r/BW7HCVM.
Yes, the link above works and you can see the entirety of the poll for yourself.
The three questions that truly stand out as identifying this as a push poll are as follows:
11. Would you prefer for the Republican nominee for Governor in the general election to embrace Donald Trump’s agenda, or would you prefer them to appeal to Maryland’s diverse electorate?
Would prefer for the Republican nominee for Governor in the general election to embrace Donald Trump’s agenda
Would prefer them to appeal to Maryland’s diverse electorate
Not sure
12. Had you heard that President Donald Trump has endorsed Delegate Dan Cox in his bid to become your next Governor, and that Larry Hogan has endorsed Kelly Schulz?
Had heard this
Had not heard this
Not sure
13. Now that you know that President Trump has endorsed Dan Cox and Governor Hogan has endorsed Kelly Schulz let me ask you again: The Republican candidates for Governor are Dan Cox and Kelly Schulz. If the primary election was today, which candidate would you vote for?
Dan Cox
Kelly Schulz
Not sure
Having the link so publicly available like that goes to show just how worthless the poll is; it can be spoiled by anybody.
But that’s not the point of this poll.
It’s obvious that whoever paid for this poll wanted Republican voters to know that Dan Cox was endorsed by Donald Trump. They recognize that Cox’s political machine, so much as it is, is worthless and cannot get the message out there that Cox is the “Trump” candidate. So some Democrats have decided to help him along and make sure that more Republicans know that Cox is the Trump candidate.
The point of this poll is to make more Republican voters know that Dan Cox was endorsed by Donald Trump in a an effort to manipulate the Republican Primary. Whoever is paying Public Policy Polling wants Republican voters to vote for Dan Cox because Cox would be easy to beat in the November General Election.
The moral of this story? Somebody in the Democratic Party is scared to death of Kelly Schulz.
