Failed Board of Elections Appointee Suggests Boards of Election Should Be Elected
William Newton questions the integrity of Maryland elections. But that doesn't stop him from wanting to elect practically everybody
Failed Board of Elections appointee William Newton took to Facebook to suggest that Boards of Election should be elected positions in a typically rambling and grammatically-challenged post this morning:
Meanwhile, at least DEMOCRATS see enough reason and concern to address the corrupt "appointment process" for filling seats vacated by lawmakers.....
Democrat Senate President Ferguson promised to address it THIS session. (We'll have to watch and see if that was just political bullshit or was he serious).
šš½ I suggest that the process for filling ALL GOVERNMENT VACANCY APPOINTMENTS needs to be reviewed (including Boards & Commissions, as most are taxpayers paid positions. Therefore should be decided BY THE PEOPLE and not bureaucrats who have a stake in the "results").
ā¦ļøIn the example of administrative boards such as the State Board of Elections Supervisors which consists of and requires NOMINEES from EACH POLITICAL PARTY, those too ought to be "elected" by registered voters in THOSE Parties and not obstructed by a partisan Governor or the biased members of the Legislature who "profit from their own political office".
ā³ļø Do you think it's possible that maybe ONE "elected" Republican might pull their head out of their coward ass and promote such a law/statuteāOr at least press Ferguson to move forard on his public promise to the people to address itā
...... that's the kind of "people's business" THEY ought to BE INā¼ļø
Though it is unclear from Newtonās borderline incoherent rambling exactly what Commissions and Boards should be reviewed and who āthe peopleā are that Newton proposes to review, it is clear that Newton thinks that the voters in each party should elect their Board of Elections appointees.
Newton is among many in todayās Republican Party who believe, with no credible evidence, that elections are fraudulent and rigged by Democrats. This only leads me to ask Newton this: If Newton thinks that elections are fraudulent and rigged, why does he believe seemingly every position in government should be elected?
