Failed Former MDGOP Chairman Pelura Attacks Injured NFL Player Over Vaccine Status
That Damar Hamlin suffered a traumatic hit and nearly died on the field last night is of little consequence to anti-vaxxers like Jim Pelura
Failed former Maryland Republican Party Chairman Jim Pelura questioned the injury of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin during Monday Night Football by questioning Hamlin’s vaccination status.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field last night after a freak play in the 1st quarter of the Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was administered CPR on the field.
The Duckpin will not link to the video of the hit out of respect for the family. If you saw it, you’ll never want to see it again anyway.
Pelura was one of many complete assholes anti-vaxxers who pointed toward Hamlin’s vaccination status as the cause of his cardiac arrest, despite all of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. He was elected Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party in 2006, but was forced out in 2009. Pelura was heavily involved in Dan Cox’s campaign for Governor of Maryland.
As I wrote in August:
Case it point: let’s look at Jim Pelura. You may remember Jim Pelura as the former Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party who was virtually forced from the Chairmanship due to incompetence. Pelura ultimately backed Murphy in the 2010 primary against Ehrlich and was one of the leading champions of Charles Lollar’s entire political career.
Jim Pelura has been politically irrelevant since the day he left the Chairmanship but like a cicada he has re-emerged as a champion of Dan Cox, defending him in the media and hosting his annual tent event as a Cox fundraiser.
Pelura is a high-profile example of this, but there are “truuue conservatives” across Maryland who flocked to Murphy, flocked to Lollar, and are now flocking to Cox. The problem, as always, is the lack of self-reflection on their part.
Pelura is a veterinarian and the owner of Davidsonville Veterinary Center in Anne Arundel County. Pelura claims a B.S. from the University of Maryland, Masters Degree in Animal Nutrition from Purdue, and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine also from Purdue. Perhaps he needs a refresher on the impacts of blunt-force trauma.
