Filthy Lucre Live
A whole bunch of has-beens and never-will-bes in politics are descending on Phoenix this weekend for one common purpose: and it's not winning.
Of all the things that I could think to do before Christmas, you know what would be last on my list? This.
Nothing says “America Fest” like a bunch of members of Congress and their enablers shooting off half-cocked conspiracy theories in their efforts to “own the libs” instead of winning elections and passing conservative pieces of legislation.
Like everything Turning Point USA, this is the brainchild of Charlie Kirk. Kirk is bringing the smallest minds in the conservative movement together to do heavens knows what. Like most events of its type, it’s not to accomplish anything constructive that’s for sure. I mean, just look at the branding…
Kirk looks like he’s trying to have a bowel movement while he figures out how he’ll convince people he’s a conservative next.
Under the guise of organizing on behalf of conservatism, Kirk and company will be peddling conspiracy theories, putschist hero worshipping, Trump cheerleading, Russian sympathies, and the ugly brand of left-wing statism that so many Republicans have adopted as their new normal.
These folks will get in a room, hear the same warped rah-rah message of nonsense that they’ve been selling for quite some time, all the while Kirk and TPUSA pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars in tickets, fees, and sponsorship dollars. The grift is strong with that one.
As Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols said when the band reunited for their 1996 tour:
“We’ve found a common cause, and that’s your money”
What I do know is this; any candidate for office who descends upon this “festival” in Phoenix is not a serious candidate for office and should not be seen as a viable contender, particularly in any competitive states or districts.
