What Florida's CFO proposes is a dangerous legal precedent lacking in logic, facts, and reasoning.

Just when you think you’ve seen all the dumb stuff you’ll ever see……

Lest you think that this is just some random troll on Twitter, just wait until I tell you that Jimmy Patronis is Florida’s Chief Financial Officer. An elected position.

So a Republican elected official thinks that the Taxpayers of the State of Florida should be forced to pay for the legal defense of a billionaire ex-President facing multiple charges of conspiracy in regards to his actions of January 6th and with obstruction and conspiracy in connection with classified documents. And Patronis thinks taxpayers should pay for the legal defense because Trump is Republican and the current President is a Democrat.

The irony of such groveling by Patronis before the altar of Trump is the fact that this comes at the same time that Trumpworld is discussing exactly how they plan on taking revenge on Joe Biden and Trump critics if Trump were to win the 2024 Presidential Election:

Donald Trump and his allies have begun mapping out specific plans for using the federal government to punish critics and opponents should he win a second term, with the former president naming individuals he wants to investigate or prosecute and his associates drafting plans to potentially invoke the Insurrection Act on his first day in office to allow him to deploy the military against civil demonstrations.

In private, Trump has told advisers and friends in recent months that he wants the Justice Department to investigate onetime officials and allies who have become critical of his time in office, including his former chief of staff, John F. Kelly, and former attorney general William P. Barr, as well as his ex-attorney Ty Cobb and former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Mark A. Milley, according to people who have talked to him, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations. Trump has also talked of prosecuting officials at the FBI and Justice Department, a person familiar with the matter said.

That of course means that under Patronis’s perverted logic taxpayers should be on the hook for the legal defense of Biden, Kelly, Barr, et. al. After all, if he thinks what is happening to Trump is a witch hunt, that makes what Trump thinks he wants to do practically the Spanish Inquisition.

What Jimmy Patronis proposes is a dangerous legal precedent lacking in logic, facts, and reasoning. Nobody’s legal defense from federal criminal charges is the responsibility of state governments. If anything, it shows that Jimmy Patronis is completely unfit to oversee Florida’s finances. And it shows us just how perverted the Cult of Trump makes a lot of minds…..
