GOP Data Center Marches into the Maryland Sunset
State Party Shuts Down the Old System to Make Way for the New
After years as the backbone of its data operation, the Maryland Republican Party is officially sending the GOP Data Center into the sunset today. As of today, the system is being turned off an will no longer be accessible to
Anybody who has ever volunteered for a local Republican Party or candidate has probably encountered GOP Data Center at some point. The system contained the data lists for the entire party and was used by parties and candidates alike to contact and target voters for campaigns and party building operations.
Thought the system was state of the art, it has fallen behind the times. Newer, better, and more secure systems now exist. The interface has always been somewhat clunky and not intuitive. And with the sunsetting of the GOP Data Center in Maryland we see the sunset of a new propriety system being used by Maryland Republicans. The new system is better, slicker, and more useful to data outreach operations in the modern political environment.
Though I’m sure that, as with the retirement of every legacy system, there will be luddites lamenting and whining about the demise of the old system, they could not be more wrong. Time marches on, and the party is moving into the future with a system that is more user friendly and better optimized for modern times. Though GOP Data Center served us well, it has come time to move on to a newer, better system.
