Griffleball League wins NWLA Championship
7-0 win over reigning champs HRL
The Griffleball League of Griffith, Indiana finally won its first National Wiffle League Association Championship today.
The GBL Celebration Station defeated the reigning NWLA Champions, the Minnesota-based HRL Dong Show, 7-0 in the final game of the tournament at the famed Dirtyard in Indianapolis.
GBL, the 10 seed, only lost one game all weekend, to the DIRT Dirtbags during Pool Play on Saturday. The defeated the WSEM Dads 5-2 in extra innings in the semifinals.
HRL started strong on Saturday with 15-0 and 16-0 wins. The earned the #5 seed in the knockout bracket. The Dong Show earned their finals berth with a 4-0 win over the OCAWAA Meats in the semis.
The Mid Atlantic Wiffle Scumlords had a strong run through the tournament. Despite losing an epic 7-2 matchup in 12 innings against Skibbe in the opening round of the knockout round, the Scumlords stormed back to the Elite Eight before losing a winner-take all game to the Dads 2-1.
No information is yet available about the 2022 Tournament.
