Hyser Has Degree in Muslim Chaplaincy
The Candidate has talked publicly about his chaplaincy; but why not the religion he practices it in?
Congressional candidate Chris Hyser has been mum about his religious beliefs on the campaign trail.
The only mention of Hyser’s religious background and religious education is this note on his website:
In 2017, I sought personal and spiritual growth, enrolling at Bayan Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, CA, where I earned my Master of Divinity degree, specializing in Chaplaincy, in 2020. Following this transformative experience, I decided to move back to Maryland and built a home in Frederick County, near Camp David.
What Hyser did not note was that his degree was in Islamic Chaplaincy.
Hyser spoke about his journey to Islam in remarks to a Muslim Support Group back in 2018.
UPDATE (10/10/2023):
Hyser’s Islamic Faith seems at odds with some posts made by Hyser on his campaign Facebook page, such as these posts from Easter.
Today, Hyser spoke in a Facebook group about his Chaplaincy, but made no mention of his religion:
In these remarks, he refers to how he will “humbly kneel before my Lord” when Jesus is resurrected.
Let’s be clear, Chris Hyser’s religious beliefs are of no interest to me and he is free to practice whichever religion he sees fit. It does seem, however, that Chris Hyser’s inability to be forthcoming with voters about what religion he practices given these public statements that he has made seems odd. It also seems odd that Hyser identifies himself as a Chaplain despite his obvious narcissism and the way he carries himself.
If Hyser wants to discuss his religion and his Chaplaincy, as he has, he needs to be forthcoming about this and not try to portray himself as somebody practicing a religion that he truly is not.
