Juggernauts Run it Back
Squad adds a World Championship to their resume, win second straight United Wiffle Tournament
It was a new year, a new tournament, and new challengers, but the result remained the same.
The defending national champion Juggernauts won again this weekend at the 2022 United Wiffle World Championship at PeoplesBank Park in York, Pennsylvania.
The two-time reigning Mid-Atlantic Wiffle Champions had to face a familiar foe to win it. The Phenoms, who qualified by playing as MAW’s Voodoo, were their opponents in the final. The Juggs won 2-1 on a walk-off home run by Chris Sarnowski.
Far from the only Mid Atlantic Wiffle teams in the field, with MAW teams comprising nearly half of the 24-team Elimination Bracket.
Some of the more intriguing teams of the tournament did not make it to the Elimination Bracket. Japan’s Wiffle Tigers and the Major League Wiffle All-Stars both bowed out in the Survivor round, finishing with 1-3 records.
The 2023 United Wiffle World Championship Tournament is currently planned to return to PeoplesBank Park next October.
