Maryland College Republicans Paid Thousands to Platform a Democrat
Yet another decision by Colin McEvers ends in disaster
The Maryland College Republicans paid thousands to bring white supremacist speaker Jared Taylor to Salisbury University last month.
And they did so to provide a platform to a divisive, bigoted Democrat.
Yes, the noted white supremacist is a registered Democrat in Frederick County.
In information shared with The Duckpin, Taylor registered as a Frederick County Democrat in 2024.
It is unknown if Maryland College Republican Chairman Colin McEvers knew that Taylor was a Democrat. But considering McEvers’ near fetishistic worship of Taylor and his white supremacy, McEvers had to have known.
Considering the Maryland College Republicans convention is coming up this weekend, I would hope that McEvers’ constituents ask him a lot of tough and pointed questions about why so much effort went into raising money to give a racist Democrat a prominent platform.
One must wonder how it will play with his soon-to-be fellow Republican Central Committee members to know that McEvers has put more effort into promoting a Democrat than he has any Republican. And I’m sure that Nicolee Ambrose, who went to the mat to protect McEvers by personally moving to table a resolution that would have censured McEvers, feels about sticking her neck out for somebody working harder for a Democrat than anybody else.
Ultimately, now that the money has been spent, the event is over, and McEvers’ term is ending in three days, none of this really matters. But it shows the great lengths white supremacists will go to defend and help each other, the collateral damage in their orbit be damned.
