McEvers Solicited Petitions for Green Party Candidate in Pennsylvania
White supremacist candidate left Maryland to go collect signatures for a third-party candidate in another state.
Republican candidate for Delegate and white supremacist Colin McEvers took time off from campaigning for the House of Delegates in his Anne Arundel County district to solicit signatures for a Green Party Congressional candidate in Pennsylvania.
McEvers was one named as an out-of-state solicitor who collected signatures to gain ballot access for the Congressional campaign of Green Party candidate Andrew Tupone, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer:
According to a copy of the nominating papers obtained by The Inquirer, only one of the 22 individuals who gathered signatures is from Pennsylvania. The rest are from all over the country. Multiple have worked for Republican campaigns, according to public records.
Colin McEvers, who gathered signatures for Tupone in Lehigh County, is a Republican candidate for the Maryland General Assembly who is also listed as the contact for the Maryland White Republican Council. Others — including individuals from Illinois and Michigan — have been paid to canvas for GOP campaigns, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Tupone said he had no knowledge of anyone paying his canvassers.
The Pennsylvania Green Party is trying to get Tupone kicked off the ballot for being a Republican plant, and accused canvassers such as McEvers of subterfuge:
On Monday, the party filed an objection to Tupone’s attempt to get on the ballot in Commonwealth Court.
“Tupone and his agents or affiliates … misled voters into signing the Nomination Papers on the mistaken belief that they were helping to place a candidate supported by the Green Party onto the ballot,” the objection reads. “Many of the voters who signed Candidate Tupone’s Nomination Papers would not have done so had they been aware that Candidate Tupone was not actually affiliated with or endorsed by the GPPA.”
The objection notes that Tupone was a registered Republican until mid-February 2026, when he changed his registration to Democrat. He changed it again to Green in April.
Tupone was a former Republican candidate for Magisterial District Judge in Bethlehem Township, PA in 2021. He was a former employee of Northampton County who allegedly “bounced from 911 to elections to assessment. He had a bit of a reputation for causing trouble wherever he went.” He also was, apparently, accused of subterfuge in the circulation of his nominating petitions:
According to some who signed his nomination petition, he misrepresented that Broscius has decided against running for re-election. Then he unsuccessfully tried to bounce Broscius off the ballot with a spurious challenge that was rejected by Judge Craig Dally.
It appears the apple may not have fallen far from the tree.
Regardless, it is unclear why McEvers would run away from his own district in the middle of his campaign to the House of Delegates to go collect signatures for a candidate for Congress that doesn’t belong to his party while being an elected member of the Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee.1 But it does show us that McEvers is not a serious candidate for public office.
This probably violates the Central Committee bylaws; however, since McEvers hasn’t been sworn in yet, maybe it doesn’t. In this day and age, I highly doubt that anybody in the Maryland Republican Party would actually care, even though they should.
