McEvers Takes Next Racist Step
House of Delegates Candidate and Maryland College GOP Chairman Colin McEvers has formed the "Maryland White Republican Council" for some stupid reason.
Fresh off of hosting white supremacist and racist speaker Jared Taylor at Salisbury University, Colin McEvers is taking his white nationalism to the next level.
The racist Chairman of the Maryland College Republicans is now taking it upon himself to form a “White Republican Council”.
The “Maryland White Republican Council” is, of course, not recognized by the Maryland Republican Party and will almost certainly earn him a cease and desist order from the Republican National Committee, which tends not to tolerate unauthorized violations of their trademark lightly. Especially when the White Republican Council is currently a for-profit spinoff of McEvers own nascent media company and is sitting on a Facebook page titled “Colin McEvers Political Account.”
Hilariously, McEvers claims that his outfit will “extend our hand, in unity to the Maryland Black Republican Council and the Maryland Hispanic-Latino Outreach Committee” as “Brothers and Sisters in Christ,” completely blowing past the irony that Christ himself was probably not white.
The point that McEvers seems to swing and miss on is the fact that the Maryland Republican Party is approximately 90% white as it is. Many conservative-leaning minority voters in Maryland are turned off by the exact type of racial politics that have been brought to the forefront of the GOP in the ten years of Donald Trump as the party’s standard-bearer. McEvers is trying to create a recognized “White Republican Council” that is those same politics of division, hatred, and racial animus on steroids.
This kind of racist nonsense is exactly what our state and our nation don’t need. We are already polarized and divided, and we need to find issues we actually agree on. A 21-year old self-hating punkass who feels like he needs to be a giant troll by promoting racism, white nationalism, and self-hating racial politics to get anybody to care about him is going to do nothing to stop the progress of left-wing radicalism in this Maryland. In all likelihood, it will only enhance it as Republicans across Maryland are going to get peppered about this stupid little Klanbake at every debate, every forum, and at every newspaper editorial board interview.
Is it going to be helpful to Republicans to have Ed Hale, or Dan Cox, or John Myrick have to answer questions about the “White Republican Council” during a debate against Wes Moore?
As recently as 2018, Larry Hogan won about 35 percent of minority voters in his race against the incompetent Ben Jealous. He didn’t need a “White Republican Council” to do it because he focused on advocating for issues that benefited all Marylanders, not just a small subset of them.
That number dropped to 12% in 2022 with Dan Cox on the ballot.
The brand of racial politics that McEvers supports, practically unseen in Maryland since the Mahoney campaign in 1966, would shrink that number even further.
It’s getting to the point where we have to ask if McEvers is some left-winger on an undercover mission to sabotage the Republican Brand in Maryland forever. Because if he were, he would not be acting any differently than he is now.
But if McEvers is sincere, he seems to be continuing down the Heimbach Highway. Soon, there will be no turning back.
