New Campaign, Same Cox
Dan Cox's Congressional Campaign is already making the same boneheaded mistakes his doomed gubernatorial campaign made.
We chronicled at length Dan Cox’s campaign failures in spelling, accuracy, and competence during his 2022 gubernatorial campaign. We also chronicled the July debacle with Cox’s premature election announcement.
Those same levels of incompetence are already manifesting during his Congressional campaign.
In an email sent to campaign supporters on Thanksgiving, Cox included a line saying “You are receiving this email because of your interest in issues affecting Maryland's 8th Congressional District.”
Cox was the Republican nominee in the 8th District in 2016, losing the general election to Jamie Raksin by 26%. Cox of course is not running in the 8th Congressional District this time, he is running in the vacant 6th District. Yet, his campaign could not do a basic check of his email campaign to ensure that his campaign emails reflected the Congressional District he was running.
There is no doubt that Cox is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in the 6th in 2024. And there is no doubt that he will lose to whichever leftist wins the Democratic nomination in the 6th. But the fact that Cox continues to learn nothing from his own personal ineptitude and the ineptitude of his campaign in his disastrous 2022 campaign shows a basic inability to learn from experience and to grow as a candidate and as a human.
In that regard, Dan Cox remains a personal and professional failure. If he is the nominee in the 6th District in 2024, it will be a sign that Republicans in Maryland have truly surrendered.
