Nothing Will Change Until Withholding Ends
Today is the day many, many Americans loathe: Tax Day.
Tax Day has been in existence since the start of the Federal Income tax after the passage of the 16th Amendment and the Revenue Act in 1913. The date was moved to April 15th in 1955.
Not coincidentally, April 15th is about as far away from election day as you can set the tax deadline…..
Nobody seems all that interested in changing federal tax law. Certainly, it is not the priority of the Trump Administration, which seems more interested in raising taxes through tariffs than anything else, a strategy that is destroying much of its political capital. But even more than the political will in Washington to change tax law, there is even less of a will to change federal tax withholding laws.
And that’s the problem.
