The Riptide swept the Dominators today in the Griffiths Cup Finals to become the first Old Line Wiffle Champions.
Jerry Hill dominated on the mound in both games. Hill pitched a one-hit shutout in Game 1 before tossing a perfect game in the clinching Game 2, striking out all nine opponents that he faced.
The Riptide won the first game 11-0 with an offensive barrage capped by three-run home runs from team captain Josh Smidt and Adam Hoyem. Smidt and Hoyem hit a pair of solo home runs in Game 2.
The Riptide went 6-6 in the regular season and made the finals by defeating Wiffle House in a one-game wild-card playoff. The Dominators ran the table with a perfect 12-0 regular season but struggled at the plate today. Regular Season League MVP Nick Elliott also had his one performance of the season on the rubber, allowing all 11 runs in game one.
Old Line Wiffle’s 2023 season will start on February 25th. Registration for the season will open soon.
