The Ghouls in Our Midst
It’s been less than ten hours since the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore and the ghouls are already making sure to get their political points out there.
Some people say “Never let a tragedy go to waste.” It’s been less than ten hours since the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore and the ghouls are already making sure to get their political points out there.
First up, we have Wes Moore spokesman Carter Elliott IV tweeting out photo ops.
Is there a time and a place for this? Maybe. Is it six hours after the bridge collapsed while rescue teams are still looking for bodies? No, no it is not.
That was pretty small ball ghoulishness compared to this.
Convicted felon Roger Stone decides that he is going to use Larry Hogan’s statement about the bridge collapse to just be an unrepentant asshole.
Yes that Roger Stone, the one that was convicted on one count of obstructing an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering and is not in prison solely because of Donald Trump. The same Roger Stone that had to pay over $2 million related to a tax evasion suit. But that does not stop him from sharing bullshit conspiracy theories put into his head by his 400-pound young boy.
Then, of course, Alex Jones and Andrew Tate team up for this bit of nuttiness.
As a reminder, Alex Jones has a history of legal issues related to false statements that go above and beyond the $1.4 billion he owes to the families of Sandy Hook victims.
And that says nothing about Andrew Tate’s sordid criminal history.
I hate the fact that social media has made this kind of lunacy possible. Nobody ever wants to take a minute to process what has happened, pray for the victims, and let the rescue operation complete before trying to score political points. And while what the Moore Administration did is much less infuriating than the conspiratorial garbage that moonlights as Republican base content these days, it is still within the same general category: trying to score political points on the backs of a tragic accident.
If this is the politics that will define the rest of the 2020s, we’re all doomed.
Could not agree more about the political whores who must show their faces at a time like this. Maryland’s US senators, the mayor, Tom Perez, etc. are whores who added no information and just wanted camera time.
As for Hogan, I will be writing in my father in his election, just like he did in the last two.
