The Incompetence of the Maryland Freedom Caucus Continues to Astound and Amaze
Losers do loser stuff, film at 11
There’s a certain part of the Maryland Republican Party that is much happier losing than winning. Right now, no group better embodies that loser philosophy like the Maryland Freedom Caucus.
Today started with a cringey, memeworthy video of Governor Wes Moore doing a “ceremonial groundbreaking” of the demolition at Pimlico to start the new taxpayer-funded millionaire’s playground rehabilitation of the fabled racetrack.
There is plenty that I and others have said about the boondoggle that this project is and how it will negatively impact Maryland taxpayers. That is what we should be talking about today.
But instead, a Maryland Freedom Caucus employee had to go say racist stuff on Twitter.
The idea that anybody in this day and age thinks that it is ok to use the word “ghetto” about an African-American is so far behind the times that I would assume that they have only recently arrived in a time warp from 1960. That language is not, has not, and never will be appropriate for ANYBODY to use about a black Governor or any other African-American.
The fact that this even happened in the first place says a great deal about the Maryland Freedom Caucus, in particular, and the State Freedom Network, generally. Why the Maryland Freedom Caucus, which let me remind you is less of a caucus and more of a group chat, needs a “state director” is beyond me. It isn’t like they have any political power in this state, even within the rump remains of the modern Maryland GOP.
If I were in charge of the Maryland Freedom Caucus, this person would have been fired for cause seconds after I learned about the tweet. Instead, the tweet was shared by the Freedom Caucus itself
The Maryland Democratic Party put out a statement condemning the remark, which any person with even the faintest hint of a conscience would have done. But that’s not something the Maryland Freedom Caucus wants to do, instead doubling down on the remark:
The Maryland Freedom Caucus has some nerve to say Democrats are trying to distract from the Pimlico boondoggle when it was their dumbass employee who tweeted something racist, which then the Freedom Caucus itself retweeted! It’s their stupid fault that we are talking about the racism problem within the Maryland Freedom Caucus instead of the taxpayer disaster that is Pimlico.
As I said, some people are more comfortable being losers who “fight” than winners who achieve. Maryland Republican primary voters would be wise to send the Freedom Caucus members home in the Republican Primary, where they can “fight” somewhere else while electing competent Republicans to serve the people.
