The Iran Bombing was Smart. Regime Change is Not.
The Trump Administration was smart to bomb Iranian nuclear assets. But that's where American intervention needs to stop.
Issues like the bombing of Iran by the Trump Administration on Saturday night create a lot of interesting contexts. The problem, however, arises when you start changing things and deviating from the original stated goal.
On Saturday night, when the Trump Administration announced the bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran, it was sold to the American people as a one-time thing. As a way to ensure that Iran did not obtain a nuclear weapon. The administration sold the American people on the idea that it was a successful attack. At the point when the attack was executed, it was only to drive the Iranians back to the negotiating table.
It was clear that those whom Trump had appointed to serve him, including Vice President J.D. Vance, were not necessarily on board with the project, but they dutifully followed the orders of the commander-in-chief. At the time, the administration, the President indicated he was not open to boots on the ground.
However, Trump has already cracked the door open to that today. Just this afternoon, Trump started going on about “Making Iran Great Again.” Trump is considering a regime change in Iran.
You can have two different opinions on these two separate issues. I know that because I do.
