Guest Post: Challenges and Opportunities for the Democratic and Republican Parties in 2024 and Beyond: Between now and November 2024 it will be interesting to see if or how each party (assuming no third parties are viable) may maximize their opportunities and minimize their risks
Christie, Ramaswamy Should Tell RNC to Pound Sand. But they won't. If the candidates were as tough as they think they are, they would dare Ronna McDaniel to ban them from the next debate

The Monday Thought
We have talked frequently about The Baltimore Banner here, and about how its founding by a Democratic billionaire and its relationship with Democratic activists imperils its ability to accurately report the news.
To say nothing of how they tried to metaphorically shank me.
But let me draw your attention to an event happening tomorrow, organized and produced by the very same folks at The Baltimore Banner.
Sounds like this iMPACT MARYLAND event would be worth attending and would be insightful yes? Until you realize what the event actually is; little more than a Democratic pep rally.
Take a look at the list of speakers and you’ll see why:
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg
Governor Wes Moore
Former O’Malley Health Secrtetary Joshua Sharfstein
Former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke
There is, in fact, only one demonstrably conservative speaker among the entire group of panelists assembled by The Baltimore Banner. That sure doesn’t seem like an accident, does it?
Then you take a look at some of the panels being offered, and the purpose of the event becomes even more clear:
Empowering Dreams: Advancing Education for All in Maryland: The far-reaching impact of COVID has given rise to unique educational obstacles for our students, especially in Baltimore. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has outlawed race-conscious admissions, making colleges work hard to recruit diverse students. How are Maryland's education leaders equipping young minds to thrive in higher education and the rapidly-changing modern workforce?
A Safer Future: Identifying Solutions to Reduce Youth Gun Violence: The alarming rise in youth gun violence is a troubling trend that affects all aspects of our city. Our panel brings together influential leaders from the sectors directly impacted by youth gun violence, creating a powerful conversation about reversing this disturbing trend and creating a safer future.
Prescription Progress: Creating Healthcare for All Through Collaboration and Innovation: From our state-of-the-art hospitals and elite medical schools, Maryland's health care industry stands tall. Join our expert panel as they explore emerging technologies and trends while weighing in on the role that our institutions play in shaping our most challenging public health issues.
Maryland's Blooming Cannabis Industry
Building Maryland’s Economic Renaissance: Identifying Opportunities for Growth and Transformation: Join a distinguished panel of business leaders for a discussion spanning economic trends. Panelists will explore the opportunities that have the potential to shape the course of Maryland's economic future, from the revitalization of downtown Baltimore to the transformative potential of emerging industries. The panel will also explore the role of the government in fostering a business-friendly environment and attracting exceptional talent.
Seems bad enough right? It gets even worse when you realize:
The Education Panel involves only one person involved in public school edudcation, and she is the CEO of Baltimore’s failing school system;
The Gun Violence Panel has no involvement from anybody involved in public safety:
The Healthcare Panel only involves large insurance companies and one retired Dean;
The Marijuana Panel includes a prominent Democratic donor who conveniently was awarded a licenese to sell weed;
There really isn’t much difference between this Baltimore Banner event and the old Red Maryland Leadership Confernece except for the fact that the Banner event is being heavily funded and advertised by a non-profit organiztion funded by a billinaire and the Red Maryland event was primarily funded by ticket sales, a wing, and a prayer.
Oh, and the Red Maryland was clearly labeled as a partisan event for a partisan audience. Not the charade being played here.
It is easy to see this event for what it truly it. It is a Democratic event put on under the guise of being an event with journalistic merit and integrity for a non-partisan group that wants their fledgling news outlet to be taken seriously. It is, once again, Activism and Not Journalism from the Baltimore Banner. It is something that, truthfully, we have come to expect.
As always, none dare call it journalism.
