The Runback: It's Like They Want to Lose...
CPAC shows how Trumpworld has no understanding how they lost the last election, or why they are likely to lose the next one. That should trouble you.

The Monday Thought
Well, CPAC was over the weekend. Yes, the event gets fewer and fewer people each year. Yes, the event gets more and more detached from the real world every year. But what CPAC does do is provide an insight into how Trumpworld plans to win this election…..
….which is to say that they have no plans to win this election.
Exhibit A: Conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec saying this.
While Posobiec tries to nuance his comments by discussing a constitutional republican vis-a-vis a democracy, it’s actually even worse:
But in his speech Friday, Posobiec continued to use rhetoric evocative of a violent revolution.
"After we burn that swamp to the ground, we will establish the new American republic on its ashes, and our first order of business will be righteous retribution for those who betrayed America," he declared.
His calls for attendees to “fight,” and his support for “each and every J6-er” received standing ovations from many conference attendees, who defended the participants of the Jan. 6 insurrection in interviews with NBC News.
Exhibit B: This idiot, who took that attempted coup d’etat of January 6th and made a pinball game out of it.
Exhibit C: Real-life Nazis getting wined and dined at a CPAC event:
Nazis appeared to find a friendly reception at the Conservative Political Action Conference this year.
Throughout the conference, racist extremists, some of whom had secured official CPAC badges, openly mingled with conference attendees and espoused antisemitic conspiracy theories.
The presence of these individuals has been a persistent issue at CPAC. In previous years, conference organizers have ejected well-known Nazis and white supremacists such as Nick Fuentes.
But this year, racist conspiracy theorists didn’t meet any perceptible resistance at the conference where Donald Trump has been the keynote speaker since 2017.
At the Young Republican mixer Friday evening, a group of Nazis who openly identified as national socialists mingled with mainstream conservative personalities, including some from Turning Point USA, and discussed so-called “race science” and antisemitic conspiracy theories.
One member of the group, Greg Conte, who attended the deadly 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, said that his group showed up to talk to the media. He said that the group was prepared to be ejected if CPAC organizers were tipped off, but that never happened.
Another, Ryan Sanchez, who was previously part of the Nazi “Rise Above Movement,” took photos and videos of himself at the conference with an official badge and touted associations with Fuentes.
Exhibit D: Buffet connoisseur Steve Bannon’s bizarre on-stage meltdown.
Lost in the sauce of what Bannon’s saying is that if Trump really were the “legitimate President” right now, he isn’t eligible to run again. But let’s not pay attention to that, right Steve?
Related to Bannon’s rant is this hilarious clip of Brett Baier from Fox News taking Donald Trump to school as Trump claims still that the 2020 election was stolen.
As the GOP and the “Conservative”-Industrial Complex becomes smaller and smaller, it becomes more and more Trump-centric. As it becomes more Trump-centric, it becomes more and more detached from the real world. As it becomes more and more detached from the real world, it becomes more and more detached from the average American.
What Trumpworld is doing, pushing election conspiracies, talking about establishing “the new American republic on its ashes”, talking about retribution and vengeance, and welcoming Nazis into the Trump tent will help make Donald Trump completely unelectable.
And I think that’s what Trumpworld wants.
Look, we know there was an elaborate scheme and plan to steal the 2020 election. Except it was being executed by people like Steve Bannon, who was hellbent on overthrowing the will of the people by hook or by crook….
…..this time, they will have had more than four years to plan the next coup d’etat. And an election day loss gives them all the ammunition they need to run with their next plan.
Do not underestimate the dangerous nature of these times and the peril the Republican is in from these whackjobs.
