Well…..now we’re stuck.
Democrats have presumptively chosen to nominate an incumbent President who is unpopular with certain segments of his own party and has a negative approval rating from likely voters.
Republicans have presumptively chosen to nominate a de facto incumbent President who is unpopular with major segments of his own party and has a even more negative approval rating from likely voters.
We’re gonna do the 2020 election all over again.
Oh sure, the pretext for 2024 is different. War in Ukraine. War in Israel. Donald Trump being charged with 91 felonies. The failed coup d’etat of January 6th, 2021. The Hunter Biden allegations turned up to be true. Inflation. The latest illegal immigrant crisis.
And yet, it is fundamentally the same.
Libertarians are not going to offer up a candidate worth voting for.
No Labels is not going to offer up a candidate worth voting for…if they can find a candidate at all, based on how things are going.
No independent candidate will come forward with a chance of winning, much less one worth voting for.
We are going to relive the 2020 election, with the same candidates, with the same flaws, and the same electorate. We’re just all four years older.
Welcome to hell. A hell of our own doing, where we we will do the same thing we did four years ago, and expect a different result.
Except this time, it will all be worse. Much worse.
