Too Little, Too Late
Dan Cox finally admits that Joe Biden "probably" won the 2020 Election. It's not enough.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Cox has finally decided to come out and say what most people have known for nearly six years now:
Speaking on the “C4 and Bryan Nehman” show this Thursday, Maryland Republican gubernatorial nominee Dan Cox was pressed on whether he believes former President Joe Biden won the 2020 election.
“I think he probably did. Probably,” he said. “Well, he did certify. Yes, I’m going to say that. He was certified to be the winner.”
When asked by Bryan Nehman whether he believes President Donald Trump won the 2020 election, Cox did not directly say Trump won. Instead, Cox said he is “a supporter of the data” and noted that he ultimately recognized Biden as president.
“You’ll notice that in the 2020 election, even though I got attacked because I questioned, like, Georgia, but at the end of the day, you know, I called the president,” he continued. “You can look this up in the press. I called the president” President Biden.” Why? Because he was the president.”
Even in admitting that Joe Biden won in 2020, Dan Cox could not admit that Joe Biden won in 2020.
This statement made to WBAL Radio this morning says a lot about some of the lessons Dan Cox has learned during his 2022 gubernatorial loss and his 2024 congressional primary loss. Cox FINALLY realized, after all these years, that complaining about the 2020 Presidential election being “stolen” was a political loser after all of these years. He finally realized that nobody is going to support a candidate for Governor who can’t admit the reality behind the match.
Cox has done a good job of running a sane campaign this year. Cox and his running mate Rob Krop have focused on the economy and other pocketbook issues where Wes Moore is incredibly weak.
But it’s not enough, and it doesn’t erase the six years of history that is there. History that as of this publication, Dan Cox still hasn’t even deleted from his account (see the appendix for these tweets). It doesn’t change the fact that he called Mike Pence a traitor. And it doesn’t change the fact that Cox paid for buses to go to the January 6th, 2021 rally that turned into an attempted coup d’etat against the government.
Nor does it change the fact that, to my knowledge, Cox still hasn’t conceded that he lost the 2022 gubernatorial election to Wes Moore by 32 percent.
Nor does it change the fact that this happened.
If Dan Cox truly believes that Joe Biden won the election, he should come out and say so AND apologize for the six years he has spent spreading these bogus theories and the actions that he took, both locally and around the country, supporting those who spread them. Until then, people should take this as cynically as most are; a desperate attempt by a candidate trying to change the subject to avoid a fourth consecutive electoral defeat.
