What does Old Yeller have to do with politics? Well, Dan Cox has decided to chide us if we compare Kristi Noem’s Cricket murder to “Old Yeller style self-made American ranch life”. I kid you not. Old Yeller is an emotional, tear producing story of a family who loved their dog, Yeller. Yeller protected them. Sadly, Yeller had to be put down when he was bit by a rabid wolf while protecting the family. Just as emotionally charged, we see that poor Cricket was not given the chance to learn how she should behave. Noem took her to the “gravel pit” and shot her dead for no good humanitarian reason.
I was born and raised in the “Heartland”. I remember helping my Wisconsin veterinary uncle during his farm animal visits. My uncle never murdered an animal. We didn’t shoot dogs or ANY other animal for misbehavior.
The misbehavior comes from Kristi Noem, not from Cricket.
There were many comments on Twitter re: Kristi’s horrendous telling of murdering Cricket. Apparently this triggered Dan, because he is tweeting his reply below as a response to several tweets denouncing Cricket’s demise at Kristi’s hand and making it all about him and politics and MAGA.
Let’s address a few issues:
Most “Heartlanders” do not kill our animals for misbehaving. We take responsibility for the dog and dedicate ourselves to properly train the misbehaving pup. Or we put the dog up for adoption so that dog has an opportunity for a good life with a loving family.
This dog was still puppy age. Puppies can be trained. Older dogs can be trained. Misbehaving dogs can be trained. Reactive dogs can be trained. I know, my son is a dog trainer and has saved many dogs from being euthanized. And as he tells the dog owners, it is the responsibility of every owner to continue practicing and staying consistent with the training.
Kristi Noem obviously did not have the dog secure in her truck when she got out. Cricket did not fail Kristi, Kristi failed the dog. She should have secured the dog either in the truck or taken the dog on the lease with her when she got out of the truck.
Accountability starts with the dog owner!!
Let’s now address the politics in Dan’s response:
No one wanted to stand up with Dan to impeach Governor Hogan during the Covid pandemic because it was a ridiculous and pathetic move. Governor Hogan was well within his authority to take the actions he took. Impeachment was absurd. That’s why Dan did not get a “response” to his requests from fellow leaders. We stood with “brass” fortitude – we stood with Governor Hogan.
Let’s stop using the word “globalist”. . . it is simply an embarrassing and nasty word from Trump, et.al.
“Analysts who track extremist groups in the United States have expressed alarm at the use of the word by the president-elect. They say it carries multiple meanings — from benign to sinister — and often serves as a “dog whistle” for racist, anti-Semitic and antigovernment conspiracy theorists.” (1)
As far as Kristi Noem’s Covid record, I submit the following truths:
Kristi spread falsehoods around Covid, including that Covid was a Democrat’s plot to take over the country.
Kristi spread disinformation re: IVM and HCQ. NO studies have ever proven the efficacy of either of these two drugs for Covid. Kristi even facilitated an HCQ trial to be done in South Dakota. That didn’t go so well:
“SIOUX FALLS, S.D., June 5, 2020 — The statewide hydroxychloroquine trial, a collaboration among Sanford Health, Avera Health and Monument Health, and sponsored by the state of South Dakota, has been discontinued following the publication of new research from a large controlled trial that found no efficacy in preventing COVID-19 for people exposed to the virus.” (2)
Kristi urged people to attend the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis. 366,000 riders attended, drinking beer and shooting pool in the bars. “They stood shoulder to shoulder as Smash Mouth’s singer screamed, ‘Fuck that Covid shit!’ “ And then the Covid wave hit. Cases quadrupled in South Dakota after this rally. Riders took the virus back home with them.
“It was like nothing I’d ever seen,” says Drake. “We sat a woman up in a chair because she seemed to be doing better, but then she threw a clot and she died an hour later.”(2)
By October 5th, the State was declared to be one of the most dangerous places in the US for Covid. And by December 3rd, 1000 South Dakota citizens lost their lives to Covid.
“Noem’s South Dakota ranked 8th in deaths per capita. That was four times as many deaths as tightly compacted San Francisco. It really was quite an achievement.” (2)
I guess an achievement of utter failure. (Oxymoron intended)
Comparing Maryland under Governor Hogan’s leadership to that of Kristi Noem’s of South Dakota? I think it is evident Governor Hogan did better for his state.
(Position/50 States)
(From Least to Highest)
Deaths/100k people: Maryland 274. (16/50)
South Dakota 362 (31/50)
Cases/100k people: Maryland 22,583 (2/50)
South Dakota 31.552 (27/50) (3)
Accountability starts with the Governors!
I was born and raised in our Heartland. This is what I know about mid-westerners. We love and care for our dogs. Our pets are part of our families. Kristi Noem is not a responsible pet owner.
Governor Hogan took care of his state during Covid. Kristi Noem did not.
All The Heart, all the excitement of a great frontier adventure!
This is our Heartland: HEART is not murdering your dog for an illegitimate reason. HEART IS doing everything possible to save lives during Covid.
#Trump/Noem is not the “East West Heartland” solution.
