There has been a significant amount of revisionist history surrounding Christopher Columbus over the past 40 years. A day that has long been celebrated as the start of European Settlement in America1 has instead become mired in a quagmire of political correctness, revisionism, and racial division.
What is beyond question is that most of us would not be here today were it not for Columbus. For it was Columbus who opened up the Americas to permanent European settlement. Without Columbus, none of us would be here today.2
Try as you might, you cannot erase Columbus from history.
