Yet Another Harris Board of Elections Appointee Flails
Watch for yourself as Christine McCloud goes down in flames before a Senate Committee
Yet another Nicole Beus Harris appointment to serve as a Republican member of the State Board of Election is creating problems.
Today, the Senate Rules and Executive Nominations Committee heard the nomination of Christine McCloud to serve as a Republican Appointee on the Board. Watch the hearing for yourself here.
After the disastrous appointment of William Newton, it’s hard to imagine that Harris would appoint somebody so woefully unprepared to testify and, from her testimony, completely unqualified to serve. While McCloud seems to have “heard from other people” a lot of things, she could not answer the most basic questions about how elections work or whether or not the election of Governor Wes Moore, the same person who appointed her on behalf of the State Republican Party, was valid.
The Senate Rules and Nominations Committee held McCloud’s nomination back, meaning that the Committee will likely reject McCloud’s nomination and send Nicole Harris back to the drawing board again.
Maybe next time Harris will choose a competent Republican to serve on the Board of Elections instead of scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for an election denier.
